I have a Roon installation on my home network, consisting of a Roon ROCK running the core software and a QNAP NAS providing the flac-files. When trying to access the music from the Roon client on my PC Avast blocks part of the traffic. All the album art is missing. Roon support suggested firewall settings (application rules) according to https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Antivirus-Firewall-Application-Rules. I tried those and the problem still existed.
However, after some extensive trial and error it turned out not to be the firewall that was causing the problem, but rather the anti-virus Web Shield that was blocking Roon. Turning it off solves the connection issue, but still has me troubled as I don’t like leaving it like that, exposing me to on-line threats. Suggestions?
Thanks, tried that too without success. I have added the ROON program folder with both ROON executables (Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe) as well as URLs to the NAS, the ROCK and an image cache suggested by ROON support.

Which AV(s) did you use before Avast: None. I’ve been with Avast for quite a while
Assuming you are familiar with Roon and its components, the PC client running Avast Premium is the only with issues. All other clients (mainly iOS-devices, but inluding my work laptop with McAffee AV) works, indicating that it is not network or router related.
I have a Tidal account connected to the Roon service and when the Avast Web Shield is engaged i cannot see any album art from neiter my own NAS-library nor Tidal in the Roon client. The Tidal album art is not stored locally, but rather fetched online. Roon support suggested adding https://imagecache.roonlabs.net/* to the list of exceptions, alas without any obvious difference.
Excellent tip, and nothing I’ve tried before. No final solution to the problem though.
Now some album art from Tidal is showing, but not all. And no album art from my local NAS.
Tried rebooting everything, including my Roon server. This is getting seriously strange now.
