Avast and The Bat!

Hello.

I’m using:

Avast 4.8 Home Edition Build: Feb2009 (4.8.1355)

with

The Bat! 4.24 Professional

on

Windows XP Pro SP3

I use Avast’s The Bat! plugin as a rule, but it hasn’t worked for a while now. IN The Bat!'s log I see:

22/06/2009, 18:37:38: FETCH - Received message from nospam@address.co.uk, size: 1079 bytes, subject: “Subject Here”
22/06/2009, 18:37:38: ANTIVIRUS - Examining the incoming POP3 mail message for viruses
22/06/2009, 18:37:38: ANTIVIRUS - No antivirus plugins are installed to check the object for viruses

and

22/06/2009, 18:35:43: SEND - sending mail message(s) - 1 message(s) in queue
22/06/2009, 18:35:43: ANTIVIRUS - Checking for viruses outgoing message from nospam@address.co.uk to friend@theiraddress.co.uk, size: 679, date: Monday, June 22, 2009 6:35:43 PM, subject: “Friendly Subject”
22/06/2009, 18:35:43: ANTIVIRUS - No antivirus plugins are installed to check the object for viruses

However, the latest Avast plugin for The Bat! is installed!

I also did a manual Virus check of one account and folder within The Bat! to see what happened then and this was the result:

The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
The anti-virus has reported an error, the object cannot be checked for viruses
Checking finished. Found 1131 infected messages out of 1131 checked ones.

This result occurs for all accounts and folders within The Bat! The messages are not infected.

It would seem that the latest Avast plugin just isn’t compatible with the latest version of The Bat!

At the moment I have switched the Internet Mail on access scanner back on and removed the Avast plugin.

Please can you provide a fix for this.

Many thanks.

Confirm. :frowning:
