The last years i was using avira IS. I changed two of my machines the last weeks to avast.
So only one pc left in my house. My main pc. With this pc I play game´s, surf in the www, work´s with DXO (a program to convert RAW pictures into jpgs´) and… do some online banking. So I need a really secure system. Normaly I surf only on normal webpages in www (like some musicsides, gamesites and so on). So I read here very often, that the Behavior Shield is not so good and on some other pages I read, that the detection of avast isn´t good too.
I am online since 8 Years and (good bless) actually no pc of me havn´t any infect of a virus or something else. I am very glad of this.
So I just want to ask YOU, how many infects you got in you PC live while you are using avast!
Is my system security ok if I only use Avast IS?
Yes.
The detection rate of Avast is excellent! You can also layer your security with on-demand scanners like MBAM (Malwarebytes) http://www.malwarebytes.org/. Also, use security Add-on’s in your browser(s). Take a look at Avast Evang. Signatures to get a better idea.
Iv never had any infection whilst using avast but i also combine malwarebytes pro to have me protected on two front’s, avast’s detection are excellent and the behaviour shield will be implemented more in the new 5.1 when releast and soon to be following with version 6.
my pc never got infected too except 2 times that i tried to get it infected and i made the 1 time…but after i submitted the file that caused the problem to alwil,in half an hour it was a detectable threat and it was removed smoothly…
you can never be 100% safe with only one antivirus…this applies to any antivirus brand…avast is a stable, light on footprint and effective antivirus and offers very good service and (as you can see) support with pretty low price.so if you use avast and have some freeware on-demand scanners like malwarebytes to scan your pc from time to time and windows defender(yep this thing is coming with your windows and its very good for an additional layer of protection) then youre gonna be trouble-free.
HI I would just like to add to this topic by saying that I have used Avast free for about four years now and I have never had a virus or infection in my computers ever. I use my computer to surf the internet and on more then one occasstion I have had Avast free say that it has blocked malware on several websites but I like avast because the people in the forum are nice and will help you if you are having a problem.
But most of all I like avast free because it does do a great job blocking malware and other websites.
I also like avast because it is simple to use and eay on computer performance
thanks.
Ps: Vik wrote me back yesterday and he said in his email that avast 5.1 final should be released less then a week.
I surf the web each and every day with my research obligations, and have had numerous malware exploits STOPPED by Avast PRO,
most notably many Fake Anti-Virus Programs trying to install virus’s/trojans etc and to date have never gotten a virus while using Avast ;D
Performance pays the bills
Used avast for about three years, both free and IS, and never had an infection. Then again, I never had an infection with Norton or Mcafee previously either, but I did have other issues with them.
Thank you all for your answere´s.
But… i read here in this forum, that people´s got an infect on there pc.
How the infect there system while using avast? What made they wrong?
Well, if you visit other AV’s support forums,
(the ones that do not delete anything that could be viewed as negative for them, thats a small thank you to Avast! for not over using their powers of censorship),
and you will find this failing often. It is the same failing doctors have fighting disease. They are stuck in an (almost) totally reactive system.
The other half of the problem is the end user his/herself. But that problem has been around since long before computers.
Well YoKenny… i have change my signature.
You can see, that i use at the moment only one time avast.
But i have a 2 Years Avast IS licence so i would like to change more machines to avast.
