I would like to use secure connection but yesterday I suspect than avast didn’t work fine. Then I try to make than avast work fine and after I try to use secure connection.
You don’t think you can just use a secure connection unless your ISP supports it. Some ISPs insist on it and then you are forced to use it.
If you then changed your settings in tbird to TLS or SSL then avast ‘can’t’ possibly have worked as it doesn’t (can’t) scan secure connections, that is the whole point of a secure connection to keep prying eyes out.
These are commonly the secure ports - SSL/TLS (Secure) Ports POP3 995; SMTP Ports, Thunderbird-587, If using these ports avast doesn’t monitor them. If you try to use the standard ports 110, 25, etc. and use secure communication with them then avast intercepts those ports but can’t scan the encrypted content and it usually fails to upload as it doesn’t know how to send to a secure connection.
So I’m even more confused, but that happens easily ;D
I think than I’ve understood it. You are telling me than although I’m using 110 port to receive the emails, avast can’t scan them because my provider is sending me the emails through a secure connection and they are possibly encrypted.
Not exactly as if your original image is still the same using port 10 without TLS/SSL then they aren’t encrypted. If you have changed it then things are different completely.
You really need to contact your Yahoo account and ask about using secure email, if they support it ask how the email account should be set up, e.g. what ports to use. If that is the normal email ports and not the ones I showed earlier then avast can’t scan your email. So I can’t see how as you said you tried secure and it worked, that just isn’t possible.
Maybe this help with Yahoo SSL mail: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14854.msg238394#msg238394
Perhaps a silly question but do you have box checked in the Inter Mail provider’s POP tab checked to scan the mail. In the Redirect tab does it show port 110 for POP?
I gave him that Topic link in my very first reply yet it doesn’t seem to have registered.
Sorry, David, I mean, the doubled post of mine :-[
Not about a double post just that this was offered but no action seemed to have been taken by breixo, this topic has been very confused.
