Avast and Thunderbird redux

Hi All,

thank you for your help last time w/ Thunderbird, JuninhoSlo, it was good advice.

Now the issue rears its unreasonable head once more; my free trial of MalwareBytes just
ran out, and with it, my Hotmail connection to Thunderbird. I’ve tried every combo of SSL
/TLS, port numbers, all the recommended settings, and nothing seems to work.

I get messages like:
An error occurred sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: concurrent
connection limit in avast! exceeded(pass:0, processes:thunderbird.exe[50]).

or one about pop3, responding, ex: (can’t find the save clip ATM)

I’m running Windows 7 Business 64-bit , SuperAntiSpyware, Threatfire, Avast, all free versions.

T-bird’s default is pop3.live.com, port 110, security NONE as per Avast
SMPT default is smpt.live.com port 587, security NONE

I think ending MalwareBytes may have been the mischief-maker, but I can’t get a new free version
to work and don’t want to mess with it any more. As good as Mbytes is, I think I’m OK for security.
any ideas how to get T-bird up and running again?

Thanks,
realself

malwarebytes is free…
there is a full version that have autoupdate and a protection module, price is a one time fee for a lifetime license
and malwarebytes have nothing to do with your mail problems
