Avast and Thunderbird

Hi, nice to meet you all

Im using Thunderbird to access Hotmail (which has gone to the Google+ dogs, apparently) and during setup Avast tells me to disable SSL/TLS in T-bird, that Avast will do all the security. I disable it,
copy the exact server name and port (pop3.live.com, 110) and slot them into mail shield under SSL Accounts. but there, Avast queries: Encryption. Do I repeat the “None” I just configured for T-bird,
or is Avast asking me what I want Avast to do? ie, what encryption I now want?

Sorry if it’s a dubm question, but these “intuitive” interfaces are too easy for me to understand!!
Any and all support gratefully acknowledged.

All you have to do is…disable SSL/TLS connection(POP3 and SMTP) in Thundebird you already did that,now you have to run Thunderbird again and Avast will(should) create SSL/TLS connection. Well I also use hotmail.com,so you try this settings:

Avast Mail Shield
live.com=SMTP=587=TLS
live.com=POP3=995=SSL

JuninhoSlo,

really, thanks a lot. I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you for so long, wrapped up in urgent “craziness”
to try to remedy some environmental disasters. (not sleeping all this time!) Forgive.
Your remedy mixed with another did the trick.

if you do not want avast to scan your mail, go to avast mail shield, SSL settings and turn off the SSL warning popup

Microsoft protect all hotmail / live mail accounts with Trend Micro antivirus, so mail is already scanned when you recive it
