avast and tor

hi all,

I’m using Tor (http://tor.eff.org/) to browse the net. Am I still protected by Avast’s webshield?

Rgds,

guruh

Yes… WebShield scans HTTP traffic regardless the browse you’re using.
Are you using XP? Do you use any local proxy application (like annonymizers)?

Yes, Tor+Privoxy is quite popular combination, although I don’t use them.

I hope the links below help.

Can’t you post what did you do to solve the problem?
It could help the others… it could say if we’re giving a good help here…
Please, don’t think only in your problem, asking and when solved go away…

Hi, Techinical. Long time no see. Where have you been? ;D

Actually, it is enough information for anyone who can set up Tor. However, since I don’t have my own server, fixed IP address or P2P apps, I don’t feel I need some anonymity apps including Tor. In fact, I use Proxomitron (R.I.P., Scott) but as a web filtering app.

Trying not to give up of avast forums :-[ :-\

I just wan’t to supplement Tech’s statement with this alarnf’s post:

Look at alanrf last reply in that post.

Having tough time? I was just wondering if you have a tradition of changing HN to celebrate the holiday season. Take care.

Basically alanrf is right especially about major browsers, which should be covered by Web shield by default, but some apps throw screwballs… Oh, yes, if not you are unsure, why not give a try to ecar download. Talking of addenda.
