avast and truprevent

Has anyone tried the truprevent by panda software which is claimed to be complementary to antivirus and compatible with most antivirus products?
I have downloaded the demo of truprevent personal 2006 version and find that email scanning by avast does not take place(at least the icon does not appear and the message is missing) and avast detected virus in the folder.

I used TruPrevent and I’m not sure if it is really like they say, compatibile.
It may be used alongside your antivirus but boot time is increased by minute at least.

Have you checked the box “Silent mode” and uncheck the box “Show tray icon while scanning” in Advanced page of internet Mail resident provider?

If you have checked the box Silent mode with default answer Yes and uncheck the box show tray icon while scanning mail, than it will not show any message and tray icon while scanning mail.

If you have Pro version of Avast
and if you had choosen to respond to virus detection (on the “Virus page of Internet Mail provider”) as “Stop”,
that would explain why avast didn’t perform any action with the virus in E-mail that is downloaded.
Someone from Alwil please correct me if I’m wrong?

Even you if do that, email could be scanned. Check if your email header has the lines X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0XXX-X, XX/XX/2005), Inbound message and X-Antivirus-Status: Clean? (Right click the message, choose Properties and Details) or if there are clean notes added at the bottom of the email? (Internet Mail provider settings),

I won’t trust in compatibility promisses, specially from Panda :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t said that E-mails wouldn’t be scaned, but that avast will not perform any action with the virus when one is detected. Right?

You're can say that again my friend :)

If you have Home version and use Silent Mode, you can send the file to Chest. With the answer Yes, nothing action will be taken. Viruses will still be there.

If you have Pro version, you can do anything automatically. Stop will prevent further actions.

So, you’re right 8)
