Hi
I’ve just downloaded the free version of AVAST, replacing AVG following a recommendation from a colleague, but I’m having problems! Before allowing me to look at a web-page or scan through a web-browser search page (I use AOL V9.0) AVAST takes 30-45secs each time to check the page out before allowing me to view! Its driving me round the bend!
Can anyone tell me how to set AVAST up so I don’t have these annoying delays when opening a web-page?
Yes - I’d like to know if Avast! has Phishing check turned on too as I have it turned off in Firefox 3.0.3 and IE 8 beta 1 - I’m not sure about Google Chrome.
I’d don’t need it to slow down my web page viewing as I do no online banking or anything.
It’s bad enough the Aust. Govt. is determined to implement a porn web filter that will slow viewing down to a crawl. The last Govt. paid $70 million for a system that was hacked in 20 minutes by a 15 year old school boy… :o
avast beta version can check for phishing sites. The protection level is a little different of the other phishing filters and won’t conflict with them. I think you shouldn’t disable avast Network Shield. The official version hasn’t this protection (yet).
Thanks for reminding me to turn this off. Everything now turned off, except live mail - and that’s not being scanned because I found the ‘insert’ message and ticked it. then sent myself an e-mail and no tag at bottom.
I don’t use instant message, torrents, etc, so do not need to be protected from what I do not have installed. Going much faster on the net now with all this junk turned off.
I’m a poor person who has never had a credit card, getting money out of me would be like getting blood out of a stone, I’m part Scottish and part Jewish and have no cash and buy nothing. So phish away you mobsters, but remember - you still need a local to launder the cash.
