Avast and Windows Live Essentials

I don’t have WLS installed on my computer but I would like to know if it’s okay to have both Avast and WLS?

Using them both and no problems so far.

I installed it and so far no problems. It advised me to uninstall any other anti-virus programs but kept Avast.

There is no conflict with Live Essentials but Security Essentials is an entirely different story. Live Essentials should not require any removal of AV software.

My reply was for Windows Live not for Microsoft Security Essentials.
MSE is an AV program and should not be run at the same time avast! is running.
Never install more than one resident Anti Virus program on your system.

Sorry but I meant Microsoft Security Essentials. What harm if any can it do?

I’ve had both programs installed on my other Windows 7 computer and didn’t have any problems.

It can totally lock up your computer.

Read it and I’m glad I was advised to remove MSE. I had no idea that 2 anti-virus programs could cause so many problems. Lesson learned!
