Avast and WindowsXP 64bit------*32

I read Somewhere here that the installer for Avast Home edition automatically detects 64bit systems and installs the approptiate 64bit files. However, I see in Task Manager that all of the Avast process files installed on my WindowsXP 64 system are marked *32 (which I assume means a 32bit processes)

That is:

ashMaiSv.exe32
ashDisp.exe32
ashWebSv.exe32
ashServ.exe32
aswUpdSv.exe*32

Did something go wrong with the installation?

No, that is correct.
The “appropriate files” are 64bit drivers - that are really installed. The common applications are still 32bit - there’s no big need for them to be 64bit, they work correctly as they are.
