I have been contacting support for this same probelm over and over, but still no help.
I have:
Huawei Acsend P6
Sony Xperia J
On both i have same account, same Avast and Anti-theft.
On both Anti-theft is marked as device administrator.
On Huawei, Avast and Anti-theft are marked as protected apps.
On website:
SMS works
Alarm works
Call works
Lock works
.
.
Location is the same for over a MONTH
I have sent location requets, it was delivered, but, hell, i’m 11km AWAY from THAT location that is presented.
Also, TRACK DEVICE NEVER WORKED, and i wanted to track my movement through a month.
Hmm, very sneaky question. Does this mean that there really is NO WAY to contact support, so you suspect the OP is lying/exaggerating?? I appreciate that there are experts/moderators on the forums, but some actual solid advice on fixing problems would be useful. Many problems seem to be specific to a few users/devices.OS versions and occur again and again in the forum, so a valid “supported device” list and working step-by-step recipe would help. Obviously SOME folks must have a working installation and be happy with the product.
I found and submitted a support ticket. Thanks for the link and clarification. I saw the restricted phone support and thought the ‘ticket’ was for bug reports… hard to think I had found a new bug when obviously many people got it working and… several others have had the same problems I’m experiencing.
I did follow the instructions, Eddy. However, it still showed up in my app list. I had to re-install it and uninstall it again. Avast Anti-Theft is off my app list, never to be seen again.
Just out of curiosity and to learn…
Why did you wanted to uninstall it ?
Did you reset the phone or something before attempting to uninstall ?
Did you removed removed avast mobile before uninstalling anti-theft ?
Eddy, I uninstalled it because I could not get it to work when I was trying to set up my PIN and a telephone number to notify in case my Android was stolen. After uninstalling it, the icon still appeared in my app list. I had to go into Mobile Security and re-install Anti-Theft in order to successfully uninstall it again (this time with the icon no longer appearing anywhere on my phone).
To answer your other questions:
No. I did not reset my phone.
No. I did not uninstall Avast Mobile Security first.
Wow! Answering a few questions to get some more details as Eddy and myself did (TO TRY AND HELP) seems to make some people throw their toys out of the pram.
Asking for detail helps us narrow the problem down. Would you take your car to the garage and tell them “something doesn’t work”?
I understand how frustrating these things can be, bit snapping and bitting at the hands trying to help is actually not the way to do it.
When your old enough to understand, you’ll realise that good social skills are key to your success within your own or any other ‘pack’.
BTW you need an active internet connection to complete the pin and phone number setup. I add that just in case someone else is browsing this and has the same problem.
You misused “your.” I try to be nice, but when people keep questioning me—as Eddy did—I get annoyed. When I say I am done with Avast Anti-Theft, I mean it. I did have an active internet connection, but I still could not get beyond setting up my PIN and phone #. As such, I had no choice but to uninstall it.
