Hello, a few days ago i rooted my phone and i installed Avast! Anti-Theft with root instalation.
I stored the settings succesfully using Direct Write Method.
Then i hard reset the phone using the recovery mode, but after the reset the anti-theft was still there but Avast! was missing and the SMS commands was not working.
And after i stored the settings, the phone rebooted, is this normally?
Please help me, i will make a video if need!
What is “hard reset”? Did you wipe your device?
I booted into recovery mode and i selected Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Unfortunately, a factory reset using stock firmware and using a custom recovery are not the same. If you hard reset using the stock wipe method, avast should survive (on a rooted device). The app itself will disappear but the AT should still function. However wiping with a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP will flush the entire system partition and remove all avast components. My advice to you is to download “Titanium Backup” and select the SD card as the storage source. You can back up and restore both avast and avast at along with their custom settings with Titanium, even after a full wipe.
hi kyleg thats valuable feedback. are you sure CWM does wipe as well? I do not know about TWRP though although i’ve heard of several problems there already.
