Avast Anti-theft problem in Kitkat 4.4.2

Avast Anti-theft was installed in my phone. After a factory reset, whenever I switch on the phone, sms is being sent to the numbers registered and balance is being deducted from my phone. I have tried getting rid of the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling Avast Anti theft as well as Avast Mobile Security, by removing the device from my Avast account device list, but in vain. Please help me get over the problem at the earliest.

Was/is the phone rooted ?
Did you follow the instructions in the FAQ for uninstalling ?

  • Make sure the phone is set as found
  • Make sure the sim card is in the trusted list
