I downloaded the Avast Anti-theft (Root) installer from Google Play after upgrding my device to Android 6.0 and rooting it, but when it got to the downloading stage, it came back with an error message saying ‘Handshake Failed’. What can I do?
I have the same issue… Just updated to Android 6.0 on Nexus 5 and can not install anti theft with root. Error message “Handshake failed”.

An answer will be highly appreciated. Error still active, we can’t install avast antitheft.

Same issue. I am running Android 6.0 on an LG Nexus 5 (the old one, not the new version)
I have successfully used and installed Anti-theft (root) on the previous 2 android versions, so I suspect it still has not been updated for compatibility with Android 6.0.
I submitted a support ticket.
For everybody that have the same issue, I got an answer from avast team: “Unfortunately the current version of Avast Anti-Theft (rooted) is not compatible with Android 6. We are right now working on a new version of Avast Anti-Theft that will bring rooted functions and compatibility with latest Android versions.”
We have to wait…
Looks like the management of avast failed again.
Pushing out a version that is not yet ready to serve the public. >:(
