Hi,
I have just noticed in the windows event viewer over 1000 warning messages since 9 June:
[10032:10028:0617/015744.750:WARNING:chrome_content_verifier_delegate.cc(256)] Corruption detected in extension kmediagceboldddnnajkcochbkfkedel installed at: C:\Users\Utilisateur\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\Default\Extensions\kmediagceboldddnnajkcochbkfkedel\1.23.0.675_0, from webstore: 1, corruption reason: 1, should be repaired: 1, extension location: kExternalPolicyRecommendDownload
Can you tell where the problem is coming from: from the extension itself or a threat that the extension detects ?... and how to solve it.
Thanks
ps:if I disable the extension the messages disappear
Thanks asyn for the link I hadn’t seen.
It’s quite strange that the error message is for another extension for this person (Hack Check) while for me it’s “Anti Tracking” ???
Anyway, the messages started more or less in the same date (June 9-11).
Is there an explanation from avast?
I’m the guy who reported this a few days ago. I’m using Avast One Essential (free version) on a Windows 7 laptop. This problem just started recently after an update to Avast One Essential. I can’t find a way to report it to tech support so it can be investigated?
Does anyone know how to report this so that it can be fixed?
Hello.
We do plan on replacing the Anti-tracking extension soon with a new extension called Privacy guard.
It was just announced in this post: https://forum.avast.com/?topic=319966.0
I do believe, that the issue will be resolved as soon as this extension is released. In the meanwhile, we will continue to investigate to find the real cause of this issue.
Thanks
For info, when I deactivated the Anti track extension, the windows log stopped with the warning message about “kmediagceboldddnnajkcochbkfkedel\1.23.0.675_0”… but moved to the “Hack Check” extension, “nmebbcjdbhgggcgohlnlgadkmjiedfbc\1.2.341_0” (idem stevec5375).
When deactivating it too the warning made its bed in Avast Performance Manager “mecokbmnofclapimmlnfegiohceoaocc\ 1.2.220”.
I couldn’t find where to disable this extension but if I could, chances are that a new message will blame another extension. :
So, I don’t feel that the problem is due to a particular extension, but I could be wrong.
thank you for this, we opened a bug at our side and hopefully we’ll solve this soon. We’ll let you know more once it’s solved (internal reference ASB-13201).
While having inconsistencies with ASB, I’ve looked at my diagnostic information too. I am wondering why is Google Hangouts an enabled extension and can it be disabled?
I contacted our dev team and unfortunately the appropriate ticket has not been resolved yet. The issue has been discussed and solution has been proposed but not implemented yet.
Hello everyone,
issue regarding error message in Windows event viewer will be solved with following browser version 105 in a week. Sorry for delays and inconveniences caused.
