avast! Antirootkit has stopped working.

I was backing up a friends hard drive that was infected. Now it has become very laggy. at least with the mouse. I have tried 3 mice with the same result each time.

I was able to run mbam with no issues. But when I ran the aswMBR.exe file. I get the above error. It is in her backup folder when it stops. can’t see the filename.

My only option is to close program so I can’t get a log file.

Is there an alternate program to run?

Even if you close it, there will be a log file.

Yes there are 100’s(?) of other tools that can detect rootkits.
