avast! antispam is blocking specific mail servers

Hello,

I am using avast! Internet Security 5.0.677

One of my PC is using Brutele as Internet Provider.
It is using Eudora 7 as Mailing Program.

All the mail addresses are working fine, excepted adresses @brutele.be, that use the following mail servers:

POP: mail.brutele.be
SMTP: smtp.brutele.be

When I try to receive or send with them, I always end up with a timeout (“could not find server within 60 seconds”).

After a long search, I found that the problem comes from the avast! antispam module:

  • When it is ON I can send and receive with all the mail addresses, EXCEPT the ones using a mail server related to brutele.be.
  • When it is OFF, all mail adresses work correctly.

It is like avast! simpy refuses any connection to any mail server, containing “brutele.be” in its name.

Yet I cannot find anything in the blacklist file, and putting “brutele.be” in whitelist did not change anything.

And FYI, my other PC (with the same avast! Internet Security 5 installed, but with Win7 64 bit as OS), that also uses adresses @brutele.be, has no problem at all, when using the same Brutele Internet connection!!!

Are there hidden parameters that could explain this very strange behaviour?

Regards,
Francois

Hello,
go to Real-Time Shields->Mail Shield->Exprert Settings->SSL accounts in avast and create POP & SMTP accounts for brutele.be. They were probably created automatically on your second computer, so you can copy them from there.

I just did that, and it is working fine now.
Thanks a lot! 8) 8) 8)
