Avast AntiTheft - SMS remonte control not working

Hi,
I’ve installed Avast Security + Antitheft on a first phone wich is on Android 4.4.
With a second phone (android 5.1.1) , I sent to phone 1 a “xx_pin LOCATE” message → message is in clear on phone 1, and a minute after I well received the phone 1 position on phone 2.
Then, as I wanted the message to be invisible on phone 1 , I also installed Avast Security on phone 2, then : more tools | Anti-theft | SMS remote control + phone number of phone 1 +“LOCATE” … and nothing happened !!!

What am I doing wrong?

Your doing nothing wrong just suffering the same issue I am.

There is no need at all to install avast on phone-2 if you want the sms commands send from 2 to 1 to be hidden on 1.

If sent correctly, remote SMS commands will not cause any ring tone, signal, ambient light activation or any other indication of an incoming message on the target phone. Also, the SMS will not be visible in the SMS Inbox of the target phone and SMS replies sent back to you will also be sent silently and will not be stored in the Sent Messages outbox.

Note however that if the PIN is not correct, the command will be ignored and the SMS will
be delivered to your phone’s Inbox as a normal SMS and triggering the usual SMS arrival
notification.

Keep in mind that some options only work in paid version and/or if the mobile device is rooted.

bad to read that’s the same for you.

@eddy
the link for the user guide is for an old version of avast.
With Avast AntiTheft AND Android 4.4 or more, all incoming SMS are visible… So Avast said that a way is to using SMS remote control on the sending phone.
It’s what I done but I didn’t receive any notification, it seems that the SMS is not sent by the SMS remote control!!!

So Avast said that a way is to using SMS remote control on the sending phone.
This means sending a sms to a device where aat is installed, not that you need to install aat on the sending device.

You can try what worked for me. On the phone go to avast and disconnect the phone from your acct. Uninstall the app. Then reinstall and then reconnect it to your acct. Hope this works for you as it did for me.
