Since installing the Avast Security Premium update on 31st March 2026 yellow borders have started appearing around Edge, Chrome and Firefox browsers as well as some other Windows applications.
This behaviour does not happen prior to updating to 26.3.10886g (build 26.3.10886.973).
Windows “Privacy & security > Screenshot borders” shows that Avast Antivirus is attempting the access these settings when the yellow borders are appearing.
This behaviour does not happen prior to updating to 26.3.10886g (build 26.3.10886.973).
This appears to be the same issue as reported on the Norton 360 community discussion site in the last 12 hours. The Norton 360 update causing the same issue was released around the same time as the Avast Security Premium update and has a very similar version number 26.3.10886. This is not unexpected as Avast and Norton share the same security software engine.
Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to temporarily resolve this issue but the problem returns after a couple of reboots.
I have tried to chat with Avast Support but they say they are currently unaware of this issue.
I have decided to publish this information on the Avast community to let you know of this issue and also see if anyone has found the cause or has a resolution for this issue.
I intend to switch to another Security Suite until the cause of this issue is understood and resolved.
I hope this helps anyone else who has the same issue.
I have the same problem here Google Chrome has a yellow border, and the same thing happens with Discord and games
It started after updating Avast 26.3.10886g (version 26.3.10886.973).
I uninstalled Avast, and the yellow borders disappeared.
After reinstalling Avast, it was temporarily resolved.
After restarting the PC a few times, Deepfake Guard was installed.
And the problem is back again, so I think Deepfake Guard is the problem it’s just like recording mode is enabled.
I Found the Solution:
Disable the yellow border via Settings
You can allow Windows 11 to let apps hide this border automatically:
Open Settings (press Win + I).
Go to Privacy & Security in the left menu.
Scroll down to App permissions and click on Screen recording or Screenshot borders.
Turn the switch next to Access settings for screenshot borders to On.
Also turn the option Allow apps to disable the screenshot border to On.
Restart the app in question (such as OBS or Discord).
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
Not seeing it hear and have Avast Antivirus free 26.3 (have yet to update my profile info). I don’t use sandbox or deep screen and I use a screen capture app SnagIt.
I experienced the same issue after updating Avast Virus Premium. Has the manufacturer provided any information on why this is happening? It’s supposed to be a Windows security feature to alert you that a program is recording your screen. I don’t understand why a virus program would trigger this feature. Simply disabling it can’t be the solution.
Are there any official explanations for this phenomenon?
It looks like the same/similar problem that was reported with Norton 360, that shares the same security engine with Avast Premium Security, has been accepted as a problem by Norton and is being investigated prior to a software fix being released.
Please take a look at the discussion for “Norton 360 Activating Screenshot Borders in Windows 11 After Live Update” on the Norton community.
An entry by a Norton employee,Selvakumar.S, on 3rd April 2026, seems to confirm that Norton are looking to supply a fix for the same problem on Norton 360.
Avast should be able to confirm that they are also looking into this with a view to releasing a fix.
