Avast Antivirus Free Ignores Exlusions, Keeps Scanning Comodo Quarantine Folder

I have Comodo Internet Security and Avast Free Antivirus (Compatibility Mode) installed on XP SP3.

I’ve noticed a disparity between the different scan exclusions on Avast. When I put an exclusion rule in the manual scan settings to ignore my Comodo quarantine folder, it does exactly as I specify and ignores it. But when I use the Screen Saver Scan (which is the most practical scan method for my PC) it ignores the settings, and brings up multiple alerts for all the things Comodo has quarantined. Attempting to put them into the Chest raises an error, so I have to ignore.

One other thing (which I assume is linked), is when the Screen Saver Scan is running, Comodo at some point brings up an alert about some temp files in the Temp folder that only appear when the screen saver scan is running, then disappear after it finishes. I’d rather not have to exclude the Temp folder in Comodo to get this to stop.

I’m assuming that Avast is ignoring my settings, storing information about the suspect files in the Temp folder, which then trips Comodo. Is there any way to make sure the Screen Saver Scan does as I say and actually ignores what I specify>

Go into Avast!'s main settings.

Under Basic, enable the option to show special scans in the UI.

Now you should see the Screen Saver scan appear under Scan Computer/Scan Now.

Click on the settings link on that pane, and enter the exclusions there.

Hello
I already have the special scans active, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to activate the Screen Saver Scan. I have specified that it should exclude the Comodo folder in the Scan Exclusion settings, but it ignores this setting.

Can you post a screenshot of the exclusions you have set, and of the results that were detected afterwards? The exclusions work fine here, even for the Screen Saver scan.

As for the files detected in TEMP… well, you basically have a conflict of two AV programs here. avast! unpacks some archives into the TEMP folder, and the other program’s resident protection detects those. You certainly should exclude the folder (the particular avast subfolder should be enough) from Comodo scanning, not only because of the screen saver scan.
