Avast antivirus system restore point.

Hi, can anyone tell me why Avast creates a system restore point and how I can prevent that from occurring?
Thanks.

You are mixing things up.
It is not a system restore point, but a avast restore point.

So this is a restore point for the Avast system, not the computer system? Why would that be needed?

It’s created by avast setup (during install/uninstall/program change/update/repair) – and I think there’s nothing wrong when apps create system restore checkpoints. You can see avast setup logs (program data\avast\permanent log folder) to see what setup operation was performing around 6:10pm - 6:30pm.

Thank you. I did have a look and I can see information relating to Apple iTunes and QuickTime, which is odd because neither of these programs are installed on my computer. Oh, well, not to worry. It doesn’t seem as if there is any problem so I will just leave it alone.

Since system restore is named with avast tag, it was created in our setup component – you can see C:\programdata\avast software\persistent data\avast\logs (update.log + setup.log) for lines around 6:10pm - 6:30pm (please note, those lines are in GPT+0 format)

If it is not broken, don't try to fix it ;)

Very good advice!
