I use avast Home (not Pro) since 7 months with excellent results
But from yesterday the “Update” is not performed due to an “Error 80” : " connection impossible"
Could you drive me to correct a certainly bad configuration?
(sorry for my not conventional english vocabulary !!)
Thanks
Do you use a firewall?
If so what is it and does it allow avast.setup access to the internet?
No Firewall, only “Zone Alarm”
I repeat than before yesterday, Avast and Up date operation weres running correctly
I have to mention that suddenly, simultaneously, the option “HOTBAR” appear in wanadoo Outlook Express, whereas a asked nothing. Since I suppressed this option
Thanks for your assistance
Bye
Some times Zone Alarm (that is a firewall) forgets some settings.
You need to check the allowed Programs section in ZA and ensure avast.setup is allowed. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, I don’t use ZA.
You can try a manual update, right click on the avast icon and select Updating, iAVS Update or Program. This should initiate an update check and ZA should ask for permission if it is not an authorised program.
Well, Zone Alarm is precisely a firewall ;D
The following programs should be allowed to connect:
ashServ.exe (avast! antivirus service)
ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner) (allow server rights)
ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service) (allow email rights)
ashUpdSv.exe (avast! Update Service)
avast.setup (avast! Update executable)
Many thanks, I’ll look for and operate reconfiguration
Bye
