Avast application don´t open

Hi,
My friend has problem with Samsung laptop, and reinstalled XP pro. I downloaded Avast 6 for her,but Setup could not open. Actually, it opened few seconds and disappeared. After search, I fixed her Faultrep.dll file, as it said on error reporting.Setup finished without problem.

Well, now I cannot open Avast application. It opens few seconds and closes. Tried to update, change or uninstall from control panel, but there application was closed after few seconds as well.
Please help me.

Hi. Can you update us with the Service Pack of your Operating System? Avast!6 needs Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.

Any other installed security program? Old antivirus?
