If I disable avast “shields” I can lunch my browser, if not, I cant, so I’m forced to disable them every time I need to go to internet.
Is this normal for such a “high quality” anti virus?
Upd:
Discord also doesn’t start
Gitkraken doesn’t launch as well
UPD:
Scouring through current info on this appalling issue that many of us have this is the result:
It started after the latest “update” of Avast (the one with yet another fancy ui change nobody asked for)
It affects most of your applications.
It is caused by “Behavior Shield”
You can try setting the shield to “always ask” tho I didn’t see any case where it helped.
Everything works if you disable avast
Seemingly Avast denies the problem (we all know it’s your error)
It seems Avast also managed to corrupt perfectly working applications somehow, so that all registry keys and the rest are now gone. Touche.
win 10, latest avast, Malwarebytes free installed, disabled.
Question is irrelevant as I said disable avast - everything works, its literally avast issue
I see a lot of users with the same issue, what is being done to fix it?
This sounds like a similar issue I am having, if you are getting an error message when trying to run web browsers or other applications while you have your Avast Shields active.
What EXACT version of avast ?
People often say “I have the latest version” and then it turns out they have not.
Also free, premier etc. can make a difference
Okay, I was testing it and it turns out it is the Behavior Shield that is causing the problem as I only get the error message I have been getting in the other topic when I enable it.
Discord works perfectly fine for me, although I have changed my behavioral shield settings to ask instead of auto block if it is the one causing problems.
Just tried to turn that shield and put it to ask instead, but that doesn’t do anything and it still gets me the “the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)” error message when trying to run applications.
