AVAST ATE MY SETTINGS

OK, let’s clarify some things.

About the 30 minutes, I was talking about your manual attempt to update the database.

If the last attempt (in maintenance) says 30 minutes ago (or equivalent), then it doesn’t matter if you manually try to update. You could try every 2 minutes, it won’t work. The default for automatic updates is 240 minutes, and it has a hard minimum programmed. So, 30 minutes as a setting in Avast GUI, or trying this by manually updating after only 30 minutes (from the previous attempt) won’t work.

Now about the summary. The database history is located at http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history, so you can see the current official latest.

IF USING DEFAULTS SETTINGS and IF AVAST WORKS CORRECTLY, then usually you should see the same database in your “summary” tab in Avast (or the one before the latest, which is also displayed in that link).

Now, if you comply with the first condition in the above paragraph, and the consequence is not the correct database as I just described, then whichever color you see in the “summary” tab it doesn’t matter; something is wrong.

So, review the number of your database, against the latest 2 published in that link. If they are not a match, reboot, connect to the internet and wait for an update attempt (don’t force it).

10 minutes after the reboot, review the “maintenance” and “summary” tabs. If an attempt has recently “tried” (maintenance) and the database is still not the one that it supposed to be (summary), then perform a REPAIR of Avast (I think the “repair” procedure was already posted in this topic in some post above), and reboot immediately after the repair finished (no testing, no attempt).

Repeat the test (10 minutes…) and report back. If the database is still not being updated after that, we’ll continue with more changes / instructions.

In any case, please report back your results.

OK. Sorry it took so long to get back. I had already done a reboot, so first, I checked the database history site - Thank you that was very helpful. Avast was not up to date. Then I waited for the four hours to pass and was at my computer when it was time for the update. The popup appeared and told me the update had been made. Everything working fine now. I didn’t have to do a repair.

Thank you for your help and your patience.
