Does AVG Anti-spyware free conflict with Avast antivirus?
Short answer No, see my signature.
As it says that for the first 30 days its the full product wouldn’t that mean its real time background scanner will conflict with Avast?
Yes it means resident protection and No it still doesn’t clash with avast, it isn’t a resident antivirus application.
The reason I thought they would clash is because even though Avast is primarily an anti-virus package it does detect some other types of spyware/malware and if they both detect something at the same time or something would they cause the system to crash, I would download the AVG anti-spyware free if I could just choose to run it manually thereby preventing conflicts.
^you can disable the AVG-AS resident shield.
i still have 20days left before it expires and switch to free edition. my problem w/this anti spyware is it doesn’t seem to autoupdate its database, even the automatic update is enabled. i still have to update it manually.
AVG-AS is my replacement for the super anti-spyware though i don’t have problem w/the super AS.
There are many forum members that are using avg-as and they too will have been using it in resident mode during the trial and I haven’t seen anything in the forums of any conflict.
Go ahead, no conflicts even with both residents active.
Last time, month, AVGas has improved somehow the update process. Now the servers are available easier and faster than before, when you need to test much more than once to ‘reach’ the update servers.
I have had active Avast Home and AVGAS Pro together without conflicts.
best,
