Avast avoids computer from starting up (through)

Found out (after a long, long time and fiddling …) that Avast avoided my computer to start through …
Could not uninstall it: got an error that the windows-installer ‘was not working’ …

Only in save mode I was able to uninstall Avast and after that some other programs.

Would really like to re-install (cause I already caught my first Adware …), but not sure if I should …

Anyway: How to avoid the same situation, after re-install?

Thanks in advance.

No one can tell you if the cause is not known. Use the uninstall tool before trying a new installation.

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[
]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

@eddy: Well … maybe I could have been clearer, although it seems obvious to me that I was actually asking: How to check, after this problematic startup, what was/ is going on?

Anyway: Reinstalled, but still the same: System start-up takes around 30+ minutes, browser start around 10, excluding interface build-up, which takes another 5 minutes, etc etc.

Now I must admit I did not use ‘avastclear.exe’ before, just a regular uninstall (via Save Mode).

So I did now, and going to reinstall again, see if that makes any difference.
Will get back to you asap (…).
