Hey, so I noticed Avast is up to it’s old tricks and is constantly going offline. To make matters worse it appears to be lagging the PC a little, when attempting to “Repair” it everytime I do this it doesn’t fix anything but I did notice my Chrome browser keeps appearing on my Taskbar again (even after I turned it off).
Have attempted to reboot many times and nothing works, can’t even scan for nasty things on the PC as it keeps resetting into a broken mess. Settings also get reset including enable Email signature.
This has only just started happening so I assume it may be something to do with the latest update (which I apparently got today). Not really sure why it’s doing it but my PC hasn’t done anything new to it.

What do you mean with “going offline” ?
There hasn’t been a avast update for almost 3 months (not counting the beta version).
There have been Windows updates, especially for Windows 10.
Have you already performed a clean installation of avast ?

Oh sorry I assumed it had an update since the Virus Definitions got updated today, as yet no but will try it later if it persists.
To clarify, I mean the Avast Background service keeps going offline so I have to resolve it all the time and even then it doesn’t stay on long before stopping making me have to restart it. Plus my scans are completely broken.

Just to further this, I did a clean install of Avast last night and so far it seems to be fixed.
Will update if it becomes an issue again

If you have administrator privileges, you may want to open the Event Viewer, navigate to Windows Logs > Application in the left-hand menu, then set Filter Current Log in the right-hand menu to Event level: Error, Event sources: Application Error, and Include/Exclude Event IDs: 1000. If you see any exceptions for AvastSvc.exe you should report them to Avast Support.
