Just what is it that we are meant to be testing in this beta as nothing outstanding appears to have been addressed. Other than this CEF, whatever the hell that is ?

Clicking the Details button (Notifications) after the Smart Scan far from showing the details it starts the bloody smart scan again. = It’s a known bug and will be fixed.

Regarding the pause button, that isn’t certain to come back. They are considering to bring it back but not very likely.

The stats will be rather later than sooner and so will the scan information (+pause button) if they decide to bring it back.

CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) is the framework that the UI runs on. That includes the toaster and everything related to the UI. It’s used for online content on the UI too as far as I am aware. The latest version of CEF will fix the UI and toaster bugs such as when the scan is reported as cancelled by the toaster, whereas, it actually completes successfully.

There is still rather a few fixes that’s left to do with CEF within the UI.

Here we are in another beta and known issue or not, this has been going on for absolutely ages, I kind of hoped beta were for testing old problems that have been fixed. There seems to be less and less going on in the beta/s, it begs the question, what is the point.

I have never been one for stats the original one that got removed had too little information to be particularly useful.

At last an answer about CEF (given there are many computer related acronyms for it), thanks. Previously I never suffered the 99% or scan cancelled issue on this system.

There is also a lot of people using 17.3.2291 and XP SP3 having issued with the UI not even loading, more and more topics. I didn’t suffer this issue in 17…2291 or this 17.4.2291 beta.

I don’t see anything in the initial posts about any fixes:
Are there any and would it include the UI not loading error on XP SP3.

This really should have been in its own topic in the viruses and worms forum. This is a program beta topic and viruses/malware are handled outside of the program version itself.

I can’t see avast specifying a particular day (they would first have to have a sample/s).

I also haven’t any idea what it is you are trying to have them correct, the video in itself aside from the language is long. so I don’t watch it through. Presumably you ran some samples in a VM environment, checked by hitman pro and then by avast.

Any samples that weren’t detected should be sent directly to avast for analysis and inclusion (if conformed) in the virus definitions update.

Seems like clean reinstall helped (uninstall, restart, avastclear, restart - install).
Previously I added it from Components menu (not during install).

I have been a loyal avast users for a number of years.
avast has saved my butt more than once.
Looking forward to some real fixes.

From what I read here there are no real fixes to be found here.
It seems avast released a beta just so they can say they released a new beta.

I’ll pass on this beta(?).

The management and coders, will never learn to do what the users want them to do. Like resizing the installer and main option windows. Or to stop releasing BETA versions every couple of weeks. It is better to have major releases done either quarterly or twice yearly. This will give the coders and testers time to get all the bugs out.

I also have a question as they say Avast will stop support for XP in a couple of years. Okay, but will we still be able to get the Definitions update for the last version installed that does work on XP after XP support is dropped ? ? ?

This Beta version has not solved the UI issue for me in Windows XP SP3…same problem, that AV service either failed to load or not responding.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many different ways now and yet nothing has worked re this problem which makes the computer impossible to scan.

I have for now migrated to another AV on my XP pc, with huge reluctance after 10 years of Avast use.

There are a whole lot of issues that haven’t even been addressed in this beta.

I certainly think that it is due an update after almost 13 days, to have addressed some of the outstanding issues from earlier versions.

turned off shields for 1 hour, then reeanbled them as didn’t really help eject usb drive that didn’t wanna eject lol, anyways webshield refused to turn back on, after a reboot it did though

Sure with a new OS release, there is gonna be a few bugs, so i’m living with it, keeping Avast in, as I tried defender a few times, and definitely don’t like it, plus it’s scans so slow compared to Avast lol, Sunday planning on whole system major full scan, all externals connected, flash drives, making sure system clean as Comcast Gateway modem somehow ends up on hard reset, or standard reset with utopia.net dns suffix lol, Comcast says to check machines for Malware, though I think its on there end as I checked with wifi inspector, scanned each machine in boot scan, nothing found so far, (but might recheck with all drives connected to this one Sunday)

This is Bullshit. I pay good money for not only protection against DNS hijacking, but also, I EXPECT AVAST TO KNOW CURRENT THREATS AND WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE COMPUTER WORLD.

OPEN QUESTION TO AVAST.COM STAFF: WHAT IS THIS UTOPIA.NET, WHERE DOES IT COME FROM, AND HOW DO WE REMOVE IT?

I recommended avast to dozens of people. Maybe I should start recommending another antivirus and internet security company.
