There is a problem with the layout of notification toaster and localization, see attached image.
One of the text string is too long, resulting overlap into other texts.

I have something odd to report. I can’t say for sure, but seems automatic updating is broken for me?
I remember the same thing happened 2 days ago or was it yesterday. Database was based on 9th of June when I opened updater and updated it.

Today same thing - it’s already 13th and my database was 11-0

Could it have something to do with the fact that I set update interval to 180 minutes? I’ll surely observe this closely for next days. FYI, computer has been running for many many hours straight and has been restarted daily.

I’m pretty sure update from 17060900 to 17061100 was initiated by me.
As was 17061100 to 17061202 (just minutes ago as I made this post).

No problems with automatic updates in the Beta here.

An update interval of 180 minutes can’t be the problem, as you can set it as low as 20 minutes.
Lower update interval settings will be ignored, and executed as 20 minutes intervals afaik.

Have you tried a repair of Avast ?

Yeah I have the same idea about it… settings should not change this. However, it might be one of the possible cause of this “lag” behind updates (read: changing update interval).

Going to repair after checking once more if it auto-updates.

VPS updates are also used to push small software updates.

Otherwise I would just “whine” without providing any meaningful information. At least that’s what I think. It’s always good to provide changes you’ve made to the settings.

Anyways, made complete reinstall and now it seems to work.

new beta version 17.5.2299 is released.

What’s new:

New Antiransomware feature is now available also for Avast Beta (in IS and Premier editions).

Change in the driver verification process. Please report any issues on secure-boot enabled devices. Especially default installations of Windows 8, 8.1, 10, etc. on tablets, 2in1s and new laptops.

Information about Antiransomware protection:
Antiransomware protection provides next layer of security which protects your selected folders against to unwanted modification. These folders are protected by default: %user%/Documents,
%user%/Pictures.

Install Avast Beta

Prepare a folder for testing - create a new one and add some files into the folder - for example test.doc

Select this folder to be protected: Protection → Ransomware Shield → Show details → Select Strict Mode.

Select “Add folder” and add your folder for testing.

You can change file extensions: “Click on Change protected file types”.

From now this files from this folder are protected against modification. Try to change files, allow and block apps. Turn off whole Antiransomware protection etc…

Try smart mode too:

Protection → Ransomware Shield → Show details → Smart mode.

Remove all blocked apps and allowed apps.

Try to modify files from your test folder. Trusted apps are allowed to modify your files. Trusted apps are commonly used applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Total commander, Notepad) that our antivirus recognizes as safe.

I’m not going to be a happy camper if the same antiransomware protection that is in AIS and Premier doesn’t make it into the Pro version. I have Pro and cannot test it. Not good.

Haven’t we seen this before, beta testers getting functions only in paid versions, so more people would be beta testing, if only those paid users would be beta testing said components.
