Avast! blocked my http access recently...

I can confirm that avast! blocks my http access. i couldn’t visit any http website in any browser, but https was fine.
don’t know why. i’ve been using avast for several years and i had never seen this situation before.

could someone tell me what operation will cause http blocking?

It happens, sometimes i was just using pc well, and left for a while, and i found i couldn’t access http webpages.

The most common cause is the firewall blocking avast.

What is your operating system and firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

not blocking avast, avast blocks me.

OS win 8 pro x64.

avast can access the internet. apps using other protocol except http can also access the internet.
AVAST blocks my pc’s http access. am i clear?

Because the web shield only monitors http traffic other protocols aren’t blocked.

As I said this is the most common reason and that is why I asked the questions and suggested actions.

Without answers to the firewall question, etc. I’m unable to suggest anything without information.

oh, so you mean that maybe my firewall blocks avast’s avastsvc.exe, and avast blocks my http access?
but this situation didn’t come up all the time. Sometimes, i can access http, and suddenly i found http was blocked. and i restart my pc, and http access lasts minutes, and blocked again.
im not using a firewall. just avast!. windows 8 pro x64 os, well, windows firewall, if it can be called a firewall…

and how could i determine if avastSvc.exe has internet access? my avast’s update if fine. both program and virusdatabase. and i dont remember windowfirewall asked me about avastsvc.exe. btw, i always choose allow when windows firewall asks if the process i can identify.

what antivirus did you use before avast?
did your computer come with a preinstalled trail AV?
did you uninstall it before installing avast?
did you run the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict?

you find the tools here…run it and reboot http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

i’ve been using AVAST for more than 2years. the os was recently installed, avast is my first choose, so, av was installed on a pure os.

ANYONE?

Is Windows Defender disabled?

DJBone

Yeah, of course. after Avast! installed, the virus prot and spyware setting is already set as Avast. and i clicked the windows defender item and a msgbox said thar WD had been turnned off.
