I just had an Avast Update which worked OK. However, I cannot get access to the internet. I do have access to Thunderbird.
I disabled Avast and can access the internet.
What happened?

Hello,
issue was fixed by streaming updates.
Fix is present in streaming updates “c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\17083106_stream\pkg1708310600000001.bin” and earlier.

come on I tried restore settings. I tried uninstall component of web shield and reinstalling and I tried resetting windows firewall and resetting the DNS and still no good I have to keep web shield off. what a f**k up no more malware and spyware blocking from websites? I will use 360 total security until you fix the shit update or give me an older version of AVAST that works!!!
I should not have to c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\17083106_stream\pkg1708310600000001.bin"
to fix the problem for them
I have this is my folder but wtf do I do with it? I still have the Web Shield blocking all traffic issue…
Everything is now working properly. Not sure what happened but this is the second time I’ve had a major problem after an Avast Update. The first time caused my computer to freeze up, crash or whatever you want to call it. I kept getting a “Please Wait” message with “bullets” going around in a circle. I kept waiting, and waiting and waiting and nothing happened.
It took me several hours to fix the problem.
I’m not sure what’s going on with Avast but they need to get their act together or they’ll lose a lot of people.
I’ll stick with them for now but I really don’t need issues that caused my computer to malfunction, especially when it’s not me that caused it!
You shouldn’t have to do anything with it, if you have that streaming update file, it should contain the fix.
Try stopping and restarting the Web Shield and or clear the browser cache. If that doesn’t resolve it, try an Operating System restart.
it’s fixed now. if you still have some issues please update virus definitions via Settings->Update
sorry for the troubles
