avast blocking http sites

hi all,
since the last version i have been having connection issues to non-secure http sites.
i can connect to https sites no problem.
i just finished doing a clean install of avast and the problem is still there.
with avast web shield disabled no connection issues at all.
i am running windows 7 64 bit
this is getting frustrating.

Did you use avastclear ?
If you did, did you removed all leftovers manually ?

hi all,
thank you eddy and bob for the help.
followed all instructions, safe boot uninstall with avast clear then reinstall.
didnt help
same problem as before.
https sites load right away, http sites i get ‘The connection was reset’
some times the http sites will load after i click try again, most times they wont.
any one else have any ideas?
hate to give up on avast but i am sure it’s causing the problems.
sites load normally with web shield turned off

yes i tried firefox, chrome, pale moon and IE.
have the same problem with all

Do you have (or had) any other security (related) software installed ?
Are you using a proxy/vpn ?
Did you change your DNS settings ?

hi again eddy,
i had comodo firewall installed when this first started, uninstalled it.
no change, same problem.
the problem disappeared after a few days, everything worked normally
now today it’s back.
havent changed any dns settings
i do not use a proxy or vpn

i first found this forum topic right after i began having the connection problem.

they talk about issuing a micro-update.
the problem stopped shortly after that only to reappear today
