Avast blocking my website but it is safe with no malware - Why?!

Hello,

I have had a few of my site users complaining that avast is reporting it as having malware and blocking them. Google webmaster tools reports no malware, I have scanned on http://urlquery.net/report.php?id=317915 and http://zulu.zscaler.com/submission/show/6eaf5c8ecaedb90dc8980b5a859edcd0-1354735302 with decent results and no infections.

I can access the site fine unless I run avast at which point I get the same error: avast int:mal
The same goes for my users, only those with avast cannot access it - hence it is nothing malicious on my home computer.

My server has been scanned, no viruses, I have gone through all my html, css, js, etc, no malicious looking code.

Can you please explain why avast is blocking my site so that i can fix it as soon as possible please?!

Is there any other way I can troubleshoot this further, I am ready and willing to get this fixed as I believe it is “false”.

Thanks.

There appears to be another domain on this IP (host ASN) also, so it is possible that this is an IP address block rather than a domain name block.

There is an on-line contact form, http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles for: * Sales inquiries; Technical issues; Website issues; Report false virus alert in file; Report false virus alert on website; Undetected Malware; Press (Media), issues.

  • If you are reporting an FP, then you get another input field open, enter the web URL for the site you wish to submit for Network Shield review, etc. A link to this topic also wouldn’t hurt.

Thank you, I have reported “false virus on website” to avast and according to host:

The reason of this IP blacklisting is missing rDNS record, SMPT banner returns hostname host.mywebsite.com, while 199.189.105.100 has default record. I've fixed this. Please allow DNS propagation time.

That’s it then I guess? Should be solved within 24 hours. Is there anything else that I can do just incase the above fails?

24 hours since I sent a removal request to avast and also submitted a support ticket to them - heard nothing back. Is it normal for their support to take this long?

Update avast virus database in see for yourself,if Avast still detected your website as dangerous.

Yes, avast is up to date and still falsely blocking my site… I have emailed them now aswell and spoke to them on the phone. Hope to have this sorted asap, its costing me potential customers!

I’ve seen it take upwards of 3 days to propagate any changes across web.
