Avast blocking outgoing emails

I’m having a problem with Avast blocking outgoing emails to people I’ve always emailed via Microsoft Outlook. This is a HUGE problem for me because I use that email address for business. Why is Avast blocking these emails and how can I stop it?

Thanks in advance for any help offered

Why is avast blocking these, e.g. what warnings/errors/alerts are you getting ?

I’m not getting any warnings. I’m sending to my friend that I have always emailed in the past and the emails are not reaching him

What happens if you send a mail to yourself?
If that is working your friend has a problem, not you.

And why using a business mail for private things?
That doesn’t make sense.

They might not be reaching them, but I would certainly expect avast to make some sort of fuss if it were blocking them.

Are you actually seeing these emails you sent appearing in the sent items folder of MS Outlook ?

EDIT: Is the avast plugin for MS Outlook enabled ?
What MS Outlook version do you have ?

David R thanks for your help-- Yes I am seeing them in my “Sent” folder and I just sent an email to myself and received it with no problems. Where do I enable the Outlook plug-in in Avast? That’s something that I’ve never done since installing the program. I didn’t know I was supposed to.

Eddy – I’m here for help not a lecture in every response you throw up! Not all of us are blessed with this stuff but we do the best we can.

The problem is at your friends system as it seems.

Since when is asking two question lecturing?

This exactly why I hate coming to boards like this. A little board etiquette would go a long way for you. Just butt out and don’t bother responding.

Depends which MS Outlook version you have - unfortunately I don’t use MS Outlook so I can’t speak from personal experience. The only information I have n thisis for older versions of MS Outlook:
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-inns > Manage Disabled items.

For later versions you are going to need to check for similar locations in MS Outlook.

I just sent an email to myself and received it with no problems.
As I said. The problem seems to be at your friends system. Ask him to come here and we will try to help him.

And don’t talk to me about board etiquette.
I ran a bulletin board when real highspeed modems did 9,600 bit/s.

ooooh another lecture from Eddy and this time he comes down REALLY hard! Just couldn’t stay out of it could you? Here’s why you got that message from me… You wrote “And why using a business mail for private things? That doesn’t make sense”. How I choose to use my email account is none of your damned business…that’s why I told you to butt out! Just answer the question, nothing more.

I don’t really care if you invented bulletin boards on two stone tablets or was an MIT standout in the 70’s. That doesn’t excuse the fact that you’re rude.

Since when is asking a question lecturing (by default) ?

A simple resume of the information you have provided so far:

  • You can send mails without a problem
  • You can receive them without a problem
  • Your friend doesn’t receive the mails you send to him/here
  • avast is not giving any warning/message if you send him/her a email
  • You see the mails in your “sent” folder, so they are sent just not received

Guess where likely the problem is…
