Avast blocking script

I have a windows application that uses an activex control to connect to a remote database via a php script which has been working fine but some time in the last month an avast update seems to have started blocking it. I’ve narrowed it down to the web shield because if I stop this, the application runs ok. The problem is there is nothing in the logs and no warnings to say that anything has been blocked. I have also added the URL to the list of exclusions but still no joy. Does the webshield arbitrarily blcok scripts without logging it? There’s not even anything in the shield traffic to say that anything has even been scanned. Does anyone have any ideas? I’d rather not permanently disable the shield.

can you upload the script to VirusTotal

upload suspicious file(s) to www.virustotal.com and test with 44 malware scanners
when you have the result, copy the URL in the address bar and post it here for us to see

I tried uploading the script to virustotal and it reported no problems. On further research though, it’s not the virus definitions that are blocking it but the program itself. With an older version of the program with current virus definitions, the script is not blocked. To me this looks like a bug in the program, especially as nothing is logged to tell me that avast has blocked my program.

Anyone able to help with this? Or is it time to move to an alternative virus checker
