Hi,
I’ve been experiencing some problems to connect to the Internet. it is slower than usual and I can’t download any software (they’re blocked at 95 %). I realized that if I desactivate Avast, it goes better. I don’t want to desactivate Avast to go to the Internet especially as it is supposed to protect my computer !
With the previous version, I didn’t have this issue.
What can I do ? Is somebody in the same case ?
Thanks for your help.
Avast version : 2014.9.0.2021
Firefox : 30.0

I’m using a free version of Avast (last version), Toshiba Satellite Pro C850, Windows 7 64 bits, no other AV before Avast (I bought the laptop last year - march 2013).

Everything done as explained : nothing’s changed ! I still have to desactivate Avast to go to the Internet. I tried with Netflix and it works well without Avast. With Avast, there’s a message about a problem with silverlight that has to be unistalled and reinstalled… And obviously the Silverlight doawnload doesn’t work…

Is this only happening on Firefox, did you try another browser…!?
Do you need Silverlight, if the answer is no, drop it.
Not to take this off topic but what does Silverlight have to do with this problem ???

Many install SL as MS offers it, most don’t need it, though.
Sorry Asyn but that doesn’t answer my question. Not needing isn’t the same as interfering.

My suggestion was regarding Reply #8 of the OP.

Called Avast and they said that my windows program was not working rite. BUT for $179 he could fix it. I said NO! A friend of mine that works on comp’s found the problem. IT WAS AVAST, He turned off perticapate(sp) in avast community, And it doesn’t block internet explorer any longer. Go figure, for 179 dollars he could have turned off it for me. DON’T get ripped off!!! Hopes this helps someone,

@ Asyn : the problem is the same with IE. I use Silverlight for Netflix and I don’t know if there’s any other software that can be used.
Thanks for your time
Which firewall are you using ?

It’s Windows Firewall as I have the free Avast so no Avast firewall…
