I am sure this issue has been brought up. Many of the games I play require me to disable Avast when I launch them through Steam. For example, Age of Empires HD doesn’t work for me unless I disable Avast. It does the same thing for Saints Row IV. I am uncomfortable having to turn off my protection just to play a game. I am not sure if anyone will be able to answer this. This is more of a request than a question, too. Maybe Avast needs to look into better intergration with Steam games? Is there a way to request that these be added as safe? Thanks.

You don’t have to disable the protection, you can set steam (or whatever is needed for the games) as exclusion.

Ahhhh, yes. Thanks, you were correct. I had to add it’s folder to the Exclusions list under settings. Was a slight inconvience otherwise. I will keep this in mind in the future. Totally n00b at Whitelists, Exclusions, Firewalls.
