Hi,
Since from the last Avast update both the use and/or the installation of mIRC 6.17 (the original one) are blocked because Avast find a trojan in mirc.exe!!
Did anyone notice the same thing?
Is it a wrong detection of Avast? (I can’t believe that the author of mirc puts a trojan in the program!!)
How do I resolve the problem??
same thing here =( i dont have trojans but that new patch say mirc.exe is trojan =D. i try rename and other styles 2 like reinstall other harddrive but say still all mirc.exe are virus =(((
My Avast! updated the VPS today and now I’m having the same problem with mirc.exe being blocked.
Avast says its infected with Mirc32:Ircbot-YU [Trj] then, just to be sure, I sent it to chest and got a fresh installation of mIRC but the problem persists. Probably a false positive.
Has to be a false positive, I scanned the folder with three different antivirus programs besides avast and came up with nothing. I hope this is fixed quickly, nothing is more annoying than a program that screams its fool head off for nothing.
Currently I just added to the mirc.exe file to the exception list on the standard shield, which shut it up. To do this click on the avast tray icon, go to Standard Shield if it doesn’t show it click the more detail button, click Customize, go to the advanced tab, click the Add button and set the path to the mirc.exe file. At least till this mess is fixed anyways, I really wouldn’t recommend keeping that on the exception list forever.
Seems a small update was released a bit ago which fixed the issue. I must say I am both pleased and very impressed with the speed of the response to this issue. Thanks.
