Avast blocks my homegroup I think.

I was using home group on my network. After than I bought the Avast Premier for my three PCs on the network, I can’t join the home group from any computers. I can create home group from any of them but I can’t join to it. When I try to connect, after entering the password it says like “can’t join the home group” after waiting a while.

I did a lot of research on the Internet, I tried a lot of things but the problem still continues. I really need to connect my computers to a home group to keep my works simple. I’m waiting for your help.

  • Current Avast software version: Avast Premier 11.1.2241
  • Virus definition version: 151122-0
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Education x64, other PCs has Windows 10 x64 and Windows 7 x64 but I was using also Windows 7 and 8.1 and I had the same issue. So I don’t think the issue directly related with the OS.
  • Another security related software isn’t installed.
  • I was using Microsoft Security Essentials as security software.
  • My computers directly connected to main modem/router with cable or wireless.
  • I use Avast Premier as I mentioned, so I also use the Avast Firewall and I mark the network as private and trusted network.

Edit: Additional information has been added.

  • Which version of Avast Premier…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

How is the network setup ? (router/hub/switch)
If you have a avast version with firewall, what did you choose for the network ? (private/public)

You could try the latest beta: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=15.0

I suggest to perform a clean installation of the latest avast version.
Either the final or the beta.

I have this issue on my all Avast Premier installed computers as I said and I restored the computer many times since I bought the the Avast Premier software license. Every time I restore the computer, any computer, I download and install latest version from the official Avast page. So I don’t think reinstalling the software is going to solve the problem.

To eliminate the Avast Firewall from this equation, go to Program and Features,
select Change and uncheck the firewall component.
Reboot your system. (You’ll still have the protection from the Firewall in Windows 10.

Just to add, I have no problems sharing computers on my home network. Here’s my
Avast Firewall Setting:
