Avast blocks Opera VPN

Hi
I just downloaded Avast two days ago. Today I tried to browse using my Opera VPN and it failed.
I have seen that others had the same problem recently but I can’t see the solution. Of course I can disable Avast for some time but that is not really the point of having an antivirus programme is it?

Version: 45.0.2552.812 (PGO) - Opera er opdateret
Opdateringsstrøm: Stable
System: Windows 10 64-bit

Avast 17.4.2294

No problem here with the latest versions of Avast Free and Opera Developer.

Maybe this will help :
In Clear Browsing Data check Third party services data and clear everything since the beginning of time.
This fixed my problem when VPN didn’t work.

Not a single problem with the stable version either.

mesterjake,
did you remove any pre(vious) installed av before installing avast ?

@abruptum

Hmmm … that doesn’t seem to help. I now deleted all cookies and checked the box with third party data. Still the same problem.

@Eddy

Avast asked for permisson to delete Panda av so I guess everything is deleted.
Though I still have a Panda Cloud Cleaner. Do yuo think that will have any influence?

Make sure everything from Panda is gone.

@Eddy

Thx, Eddy.
Now I have used the Panda Uninstaller and Panda Cloud Cleaner Uninstaller. Unfortunately it didn’t solve my problem. VPN is still not working ???

In Avast go to
Settings > General > Exclusions > URLs and add https://api.surfeasy.com*

This will allow the Opera in-browser vpn to initialize.

No problem here with Opera’s VPN. No exclusions needed.

Thank you so much. Adding the exclusion seems to have fixed the VPN problem here!!!

What exact avast version do you have ?

After installing the latest beta of Avast free, I’ve also had problems with Opera’s free VPN.
The exclusion:
Settings > General > Exclusions > URLs and add https://api.surfeasy.com*
Does solve the problem.
