I was testing malware in a vm i had everything blocked off like, shared folders. but avast keeps blocking it, it says it blocked vmnat.exe? Heres a screenshot:
You’re attepnmting to launch CIH in a vm? Not a smart idea. Why are you testing viruses in the VM anyways? Disable the Avast Shields.
Also, do you have training? Ethernet disabled? USB Disabled? Shared Folders Disabled?
was there a point to making your VM not work anymore? Thta’s what CIH will do, the BIOS won’t be compatible or anything. Just an FYI.
Everything disabled, no network, no ethernet, no usb, no shared folders, nothing, I have training and I have been interested in malware for 5 years, and the VM was already trashed with other malware so i wanted to destroy it completley, i was using Windows 98 so i thought CIH would be interesting, but avast blocked only that one piece of malware. Why not anything else i tested?
Why not anything else i tested?depends what it is.....
Maldal, Loveletter, Melissa, Prizm, Sevgi, Arcticbomb… Lots of old malware/viruses
I never had any infection that got out of a VM.
Let the things that Michael said above disabled for your security.
Best is to turn Avast off when running a VM, or exclude the VMWare folders in the settings.
. Lots of old malware/virusesif old and not seen in the wild anymore they may be removed from detection also many old malware does not work on new OS
I’m testing it on windows 98
Virtual 98? Thats old.

Zono, can you adress my questioon, do you have training? Back-ups? Willingness to lose potentially all of your data?
I have backups and about 3 months of training
Hi, is a good sign all my scans come back clear now? Kinda left in limbo here and not sure what to do next
