I haven’t been around, and it’s already too late to reply to anyone
who tried to help in the original post I made, but i’m here to try again.
Basically, I was prompted to run a Boot-Time scan which i complied with, but once the scan was
complete and my computer had restarted, my Local Area Connection
for my internet had been disabled(if it makes a difference,i use an Ethernet cord).
i’ve contacted both my ISP and Avast! about the issue. My ISP checked the connection
and even rebooted it, but the internet works for other computer systems in my home, all except for this one (my desktop)
Avast! said they could come and reset everything, but it requires me to spend copious amounts of money, which I know for
a fact is not necessary.
To conclude, my Avast! information is telling me “the following components could not be started:
Mail Shield, IM Shield, P2P Shield, File System Shield, Web Shield, Script Shield, Behavior Shield,
Network Shield” and I’m really unsure of what to troubleshoot, what to check,
or where to go to fix this because I have no idea what caused or is continuing to cause this.
if someone could just point me in a helpful direction please, I’d be forever grateful.
Don’t know which version specifically, but most recent as of December 2012
Operating system if 64-Bit I believe, but I don’t know the specs of computer, or how to check
no other software, just Avast!.
I’ve only used Avast! for this computer.
UPDATE: I’ve uninstalled it, and tried restoring my tcicp.sys but whenever
I open my browser it still gives me this list of suggestions:
-Try disabling your network prediction (which I did)
-Check DNS settings (unsure of what this is)
-Add Google Chrome as permitted program of firewall to Avast! settings (I already uninstalled Avast!)
-If you use a proxy server, check proxy settings (as far as I know, I just use a “regular” server)

Right click my computer, select properties and it will show what operating system you are using?
Was there any other antivirus on the computer when it was bundled with the operating system? when it was new that could interfere with avast? all traces have to be removed (AVG,S MACAFEES, NORTONS, SYMANTECS)
It wasn’t a new computer. It was assembled from some old parts by a buddy of mine, and I had to to download the antivirus itself.
The real problem is that the internet worked before the scan, and once the scan was completed, the internet connections symbol vanished
from the bottom right corner, and I was then unable to browse the web.
But as far as i’ve known, only Avast! has been installed on it.
