Hi all,
My first post here, and I have a quick question:
How does the boot-time scan work? Which setting and/or file does Avast modify?
Thanks,

How does the boot-time scan work?
Boot Time Scan allows the antivirus engine to scan all of the files on your hard drive before any other programs load - useful in cases where you have an infection which cannot be cleaned because the “file is in use”.
Which setting and/or file does Avast modify?
When avast performs boot time scan, nothing is modified except for the detected ones and the log file [aswboot.txt] that will be generated.
Welcome. Feel free to come back any time you need help or just to change experiences 8)
I have a question too. How slow would start-up become if the boot-time scan was enabled? At the moment, I have it disabled because I’m worried it will significantly slow down my PC’s start-up.
Good day Jesant13.
Once a Boot Time Scan is scheduled, it will only occur once until you schedule another. In that case, Boot Time Scan wont affect daily computer startups unless scheduled. On the otherhand, if a Boot Time Scan is scheduled, you’ll be spending quite some time for scanning to finish or you may, in case, bypass the scan by pressing ESC.
Ciao.
Ah, okay - thanks.
Ah, okay - thanks.
You’re welcome, feel free to drop by some time again.
Jesant13, boot time scanning is for cleaning and emergencies. For sure not each boot.
It would take hours to finish (most probably).
