how can i perform a boot scan?
I’d say you are using an operating system where the boot-time scanner is not supported.
Hi, pjotrvdh,
What igor said.
Typically 64 bit Windows.
What is your OS?
Windows Vista ultimate x64
is that bad?
Well, it’s not “bad”… but the boot-time scan is not supported on 64bit operating systems at the moment - so there’s no way you can schedule it, I’m afraid.
well…
i have a dual boot of windows Vista Ultimate x64 and Windows XP SP3.
should i set the boot scan from Windows Xp?
I don’t know whether it’s technically possible to have the 64bit OS scanned at boot via the XP installation, but what I can say is that unless there is suspected (or actual) malware that is resisting detection/removal during normal scanning, there is little point in running a boot scan.
wel sometimes i cant remove a virus or as such because it wat already running. so with a bootscan it can’t run and can be deleted.s
Do you have that situation, now? Or asking for general future reference?
If you have a dual boot system, I’d say it’s better to scan the first operating system from the second one (and vice versa) - than to perform a boot-time scan. The ordinary windows scanner is a bit more complex - and if you run it from another operating system, it’s better than a boot-time scan on the same OS (provided the other OS is not infected as well, of course).
ok i have some program wich i think is a virus or trojan. but i can’t remove it.
i wil check with the other os and vice versa
