Avast Browser Cleanup startup message

Hello guys,

Suddendly, everytime I open the Browser Cleanup in my machine, I receive a message telling me that a program was found that could interfere with the scan result of the browser cleanup.
It asks me if I want to remove, I say yes, its says that the program was successfully removed.
However, in the next time I open the Browser Cleanup, the same message appears.

Anyone knows if this is some kind of bug?

Thanks for your time!

It’s been reported before.

No one seems to be able to say exactly what it is that Avast wants to remove.

I’m not sure how Avast can safely remove something it peresumably can’t identify if you say yes, but I suspect a large number of people will not sign blank cheques in anycase to give Avast permission to remove what ever it might be, without knowing what would be removed, and that seems very sensible to me.

I’ve seen a comment that suggests the “message” ought to/could be clearer, but as it is at the moment, I wouldn’t advise anyone to use the function.

Is it a bug?
I don’t know. To me it depends on what it wants to remove, and whether that removal is temporary or permanent.
If that happens to be an integral security feature of the browser, or of a Windows operating system, or of a 3rd party security product, then it would seem ill conceived to “remove” it on a permanent basis, though depending on what it is, it might be acceptable to “bypass” it on a one off basis with the approval of the user.
