My Avast Virus program wouldn’t update the virus definitions. I ended up having to uninstall the program and reinstall it. The browser was working before the uninstall but not it isn’t. It won’t open even if I open it as an administrator. I would just remove it and reinstall it but don’t want to loose my bookmarks. Is there a way to reinstall or update the browser without loosing the bookmarks? Are the bookmarks stored in a folder somewhere on the drive?
Hi the latest virus definition would be October 23, 2019
You can find your bookmarks in this location - C:\Users\user1\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\Default (where “user1” refers to the user name you use)
If Avast Secure Browser crashes or won’t open, try the following troubleshooting options:
Close Secure Browser and open it again.
Close Secure Browser and “restart” your PC.
Uninstall ( https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Secure-Browser-FAQ#idt_0440 ) Secure Browser and
reinstall ( https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Secure-Browser-FAQ#idt_0450 ) it.

Thank you! I did make a copy of the bookmark file just in case. When I uninstalled it I didn’t tick the “Also delete your browsing data” box so my bookmarks were in the reinstalled browser.
Thank you for the update. I am glad that your bookmarks are safe.
