Avast cannot be updated or uninstalled, help!

Hi,

I’ve been using Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1501 for a while now… But recently, I noticed it was not receiving definition updates anymore… I tried to update the program to its latest version, but it stays at Step 1/3 forever without downloading any update!

I tried uninstalling the program to install a fresh version, but when I go to Control Panel to uninstall Avast, I get the following error message:

“The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x00e68aac. Click on OK to terminate the program”

I’d like to get this fixed asap, so I can run a full system scan using the latest version of the program, because I noticed that Windows Explorer has been using a lot of CPU lately… And from what I read on the web, this can be the result of a system infection.

Please help! Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

Hi first we will reinstall Avast
If it will not uninstall from the comtrol panel then use Avast clear

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstalltool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast
