Avast cannot update

:frowning:
My Korean version of Avast 5 free refuses to update today. Do any others have the same problem in other languages too?
It says “패키지가 깨져 있습니다.” (The package is broken). Does anyone know how to solve this?

Have you tried doing a manual update? If this doesn’t work, try rebooting then try doing an update. If it still doesn’t work, try again later…it could be a release that they are releasing later today.

I think the updates have nothing to do with the language.
It could be a temporary glitch. Most of the times, booting and testing later will work.
Or gGo to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

Hi rally98,

welcome to the forum!
Just an information: there are some threads about this announcement of avast! here in the forum.
Look for them - perhaps you can find some helpful information there.

Sorry, but I didn’t read them all, so you have to look for yourself…

~SKY~ using an old obsolete operating sytem like Win 2000 Pro SP4 does not inspire confidence. :o

rally98,

Is your problem now resolved? A few others had the same problem and followed my instructions and later got the update. Please let us know how you did.

If you feel that your issue is now resolved/fixed, please go back to the open post in this topic, click the modify button in that Post and change the title/subject, add [Resolved] to the beginning of the title so this thread can be closed. Thank you.

It’s “Retro”, I like it! ;D
Never had problems with it and it runs how I like since years.

Nevertheless thank you for your apprehension.

PS:
Others are “Retro”, too, like the UK government - look here ;D:

Microsoft's interpretation of the report is that the best protection is offered by a combination of healthy mistrust, the latest anti-virus software and by ensuring that all the software on a system is up-to-date. For operating systems at least, the report says the figures speak for themselves – Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7 are infected with malware half as often as systems running Windows XP.

Different opinions - that’s life!
Be cool, see read you, bye bye and have a nice weekend… ;D
